Beverly Coble Responds to Harassment Allegations by Attacking Survivor’s Childhood Trauma
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 24, 2025
Randleman, NC — Just hours after AnybodyButCoble.org released a detailed account of mayoral candidate Beverly Coble’s harassment of a dying law enforcement officer and his grieving family, Coble not only denied the allegations—but immediately retaliated by launching a deeply personal attack against the officer’s son, Clayton Ballentine.
Coble’s response included resurfacing a 15-year-old guardianship case involving Ballentine, who as a teenager survived a suicide attempt after enduring abuse by a family member. In the wake of that trauma, Ballentine’s father—Bill Ballentine, a respected law enforcement officer and recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine—secured legal guardianship to ensure his son’s safety and recovery.
Instead of addressing the serious and specific allegations raised about her behavior—including intruding on a dying man’s final days, attacking his children online, and helping divide his family—Coble reached into a child’s medical and legal history in a blatant attempt to humiliate and silence the person holding her accountable.
“This wasn’t a coincidence. Beverly Coble denied the truth, and in the same breath, tried to punish me for telling it,” said Clayton Ballentine, founder of AnybodyButCoble.org. “At 17, I was surviving something no child should ever experience. My father helped me through it. I’m so proud of how far I’ve come since then—I’m a husband, a father, a business owner, and a trusted advisor to political leaders across North Carolina and the entire Southeast. I’ve built a life grounded in service and second chances.”
“To show just how far I’ve come, I’ve included both the original guardianship motion and a court order from nearly a decade later restoring my right to own a firearm. I have nothing to hide—and no reason to feel shame. The only shame here belongs to the person who thought weaponizing a teenager’s trauma was acceptable behavior for someone seeking public office.”
AnybodyButCoble.org’s original release detailed a pattern of boundary violations, manipulation, and harassment by Beverly Coble. Her retaliatory attack on a childhood survivor only reinforces the central question Randleman voters must now ask: Is this the kind of character we want leading our city?
